Avian-Influenza-Related Activities in Alaska

As retriever trainers and owners, one of our foremost objectives is the conservation of waterfowl and game. We have gathered a few resources below to help keep all of us informed in regards to Avian Influenza.

The US Fish & Wildlife Service-Alaska Office

. . . As of March 2006, the particularly virulent form of avian influenza known as HPAI H5N1 has not been detected in either wild or domestic birds or in humans in North America, including Alaska. From 1998 to the present, more than 12,000 wild bird samples from Alaska have been examined for evidence of H5N1. No evidence of H5N1 virus has been discovered. . . .
